It is known from the 17 cent. In 1793, Pla\u0161kiai church was baptized. In 1896, the new stone church was put up on its place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">It was an important spiritual regional center.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">After it got independence, one local inhabitant tore off the roof of a house, however, that did not prevent him from becoming the major of \u0160ilut\u0117.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">During WWI, Pla\u0161kiai was greatly damaged.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"western\"><a name=\"__RefHeading___Toc518800825\"><\/a>Rusn\u0117<\/h4>\n<p class=\"western\">Rusn\u0117 is the old fishermen\u2019s settlement. Prussian grand duke Albert\u2019s order to hold services in the Lithuanian and Kur\u0161iai languages testify about that. For many centuries, along with Klaip\u0117da\u2019s region, Rusn\u0117 belonged to the German feudalistic that tried to \u201cgermanize\u201d the local people, but failed to eliminate Lithuanian roots. The street of \u017dveju (fishermen) is held a monument of the old Rusn\u0117\u2019s architecture. It is a former village of Skirvyt\u0117l\u0117, now belonging to the city of Rusn\u0117. You could also see living and industrial buildings of the end of 19 cent. beginning of the 20 cent architecture typical to the coastal territory. The walls of the houses are usually boarded and full of writings. The roofs are covered with reed or with tiles. In 1907, water station was built in Rusn\u0117. This station is considered a symbol of human persistency in the battle with the element the Nemunas\u2019 waters.
