About this region<\/h1>\n<p style=\"font-size: 12.727272033691406px;\"><b>Vidzeme<\/b>\u00a0(dt. Livland) ist eine Region in\u00a0<a title=\"Lettland\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lettland\">Lettland<\/a>. Die lettische Bezeichnung stammt von den Worten \u201evidus\u201c (<a title=\"Deutsche Sprache\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Deutsche_Sprache\">deutsch<\/a>\u00a0<i>Mitte<\/i>) und \u201ezeme\u201c (<i>Erde, Land<\/i>) ab, sie bedeutet somit \u201eMittelerde\u201c oder auch \u201eMittelland\u201c. Vidzeme liegt historisch gesehen etwa in der Mitte des ehemaligen\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Deutschordensland\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Deutschordensland\">Meistertums Livland<\/a>, das sich im Norden bis an den\u00a0<a title=\"Finnischer Meerbusen\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Finnischer_Meerbusen\">Finnischen Meerbusen<\/a>\u00a0und im S\u00fcden bis\u00a0<a title=\"Litauen\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Litauen\">Litauen<\/a>\u00a0erstreckte und die Gebiete der heutigen Staaten\u00a0<a title=\"Estland\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Estland\">Estland<\/a>\u00a0und\u00a0<a title=\"Lettland\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lettland\">Lettland<\/a>\u00a0vollst\u00e4ndig abdeckte. Vidzeme ist eine der vier in der\u00a0<a title=\"Verfassung Lettlands\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Verfassung_Lettlands\">Verfassung Lettlands<\/a>\u00a0genannten Regionen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 12.727272033691406px;\">Wird aus aktueller Sicht von\u00a0<a title=\"Livland\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Livland\">Livland<\/a>\u00a0gesprochen, so ist damit meist die jetzige Region Vidzeme gemeint. Zuvor verstand man zu Zeiten\u00a0<a title=\"Gouvernement Livland\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gouvernement_Livland\">zaristischer Oberherrschaft<\/a>\u00a0noch die Landschaft n\u00f6rdlich von\u00a0<a title=\"Riga\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Riga\">Riga<\/a>\u00a0bis zum\u00a0<a title=\"Peipussee\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Peipussee\">Peipussee<\/a>\u00a0als Livland, was territorial der lettischen Region Vidzeme zusammen mit der heutigen S\u00fcdh\u00e4lfte Estlands entspricht.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 12.727272033691406px;\">Vidzeme grenzt im Westen an die Ostseek\u00fcste, im Norden an\u00a0<a title=\"Estland\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Estland\">Estland<\/a>, im Osten sowie S\u00fcdosten an\u00a0<a title=\"Lettgallen\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lettgallen\">Lettgallen<\/a>\u00a0(lettisch\u00a0<span class=\"lang\" xml:lang=\"lv\"><i>Latgale<\/i><\/span>) und im S\u00fcden an\u00a0<a title=\"Semgallen\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Semgallen\">Semgallen<\/a>\u00a0(<i>Zemgale<\/i>) und\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Oberlettland\" href=\"http:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Oberlettland\">Oberlettland<\/a>\u00a0(<i>Aug\u0161zeme<\/i>). Especially spectacular the coast is between Vitrupe and T?ja. Riga-Gauja National Park- Estonia (Direction Tartu)<\/h2>\n<p lang=\"de-DE\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm; font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: 120%; text-decoration: none;\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial Unicode MS, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">Stadt und Region Cesis (Wenden) <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p lang=\"de-DE\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm; font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: 120%; text-decoration: none;\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial Unicode MS, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">Die Stadt Cesis ist im nordlichen Teil der Hochebene Vidzeme am Ufer des Flusses Gauja entstanden. Die Stadt liegt auf mehreren terrassenreichen H?eln von denen es eine weite Aussicht ?er blaugr?e W?der und das Flusstal gibt. In der zweiten H?fte des 19. Jahrhundert gab es im Kreis Cesis 81 Gutsh?e mit 152 Nebeng?ern, 89 M?len und 115 Kneipen (Schenken). Die Herrenh?ser aus Stein, Lagerh?ser und St?le samt anderen Geb?den und Parks bildeten eine harmonische Landschaft, die vielerorts bis heute erhalten ist. Bis Anfang 20.Jh. bildeten sich Gemeindezentren mit Rathaus, Schule, Kirche und Friedhof. Sie wurden durch gewundene sch?e Landstra?n verbunden, die uns heute zum Radfahren einladen.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"de-DE\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm; font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: 120%; text-decoration: none;\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial Unicode MS, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">In uralten Zeiten wurde diese Gegend von dem altlettischen Stamm der Wenden bewohnt. Im Zentrum stand ein 18 m hoher H?el mit einer Holzburg, den man heute Nussberg nennt. Die Siedlung lag am wichtigen Handelsweg von Westen nach Osten. Kein Wunder,dass die deutschen Kreuzritter diese Ortschaft w?lten und Anfang 13.Jh. den Bau einer m?htigen Burg auf gegen?erliegendem H?el begannen. 1237-1561 Sitz des Meisters des Livl?dischen Ritterorden.W?rend des Gro?n Nordischen Krieges zerst?te die russische Armee 1703 die Burg. 1777 baute der neue Besitzer Graf von Sievers das Neue Schloss an Stelle. Seit 1949 befindet sich dort das Landeskunde-Museum. Die Entwicklung der Stadt beginnt 1. H?fte 13.Jh. In der Stadtmitte befindet sich der Marktplatz und die Kirche. <span style=\"color: #b8292e;\">Zentrum ist aber die Ordensburg<\/span> mit 3 Vorburgen. Heute sind vom Mittelalter die St. Johannes-Kirche (1281-1284), Burgruine und Fragmente der Stadtmauer (Valnu u. Palaststr.) erhalten sowie das Stra?nnetz der Altstadt. Die Stadt wurde mehrmals von Br?den zerst?t, der letzte begab sich 1748. Interessant sind die Wohnh?ser (18.Jh.) Rigaer Str.16,24 (1.H?fte 19.Jh) Rigaer Str.47, Gaujas Str. 6 u. a. 2.H?fte 19.Jh.: Die Raunaer Str. vom Bahnhof in die Altstadt f?rt wurde Promenadenstra? mit dem Haus der Lettischen Gesellschaft (Nr. 12,Arch. A.Malves), dem Gerichtshaus (Nr. 14,Arch. P.Mengelis) u.a. Die Stadt Cesis wurde als Kurort bekannt.
